Illustration by Steven Hughes and Rachel Idzerda

I had the pleasure and rare opportunity of collaborating with another illustrator - the very talented Rachel Idzerda ( rachelidzerda ) - on a cover illustration for the Globe and Mail. While at the outset we both agreed on focusing on separate aspects of the image, it soon became a less simple division of labour as she helped shape my part while I helped shape hers.
This all came about (with many thanks to) Matt French, a Design Editor at the Globe and Mail. Rachel and I have both worked with Matt quite a bit, and he’s displayed a lot of faith in our abilities, without which this collaboration would not have been possible.
If you’re interested in seeing his great designs, awesome covers, plus new editorial illustrations from some great artists, then you should definitely follow him on tumblr: mattcfrench

I recently got to team up with Steven Hughes for this psychedelic Mad Men cover, with page design by Matt French! Follow them both if you’re not already doing so!

I did this Globe & Mail section cover a few weeks ago, for a feature about the lessons that would-be moms of Gen Y can learn from their Gen X predecessors.

I usually do the majority of my work digitally these days, but I decided to pull out the paints again for these little guys!

Thanks again to AD Matt French!

"Boston Terrier Love 2"
This little guy is now available in my Society6 shop, along with Boston #1!Get him here.
I actually sketched out a bunch of these and meant to do a full set, but have a bad habit of getting caught up in work and abandoning personal projects before they’re finished. I loved doing them though so I hope to finish off the rest sometime soon!

"Skinny Girl Problems"
Client: The Globe & Mail

In a culture obsessed with weight, there’s a downside to being skinny. I had so much fun drawing these sexy curvy ladies! Read the full article here!

Due to requests, I’ve made this and a curvy-girls-only version available as prints in my Society6 shop! There also happens to be a promotion on right now, so use >this link< for free shipping on this or any other piece in my store until January 12!

"The Year in Reading"
Client: The Globe & Mail
A fun piece I did during the holiday season for the Globe Books section cover. I’m looking forward to the holiday rush being over so I can do a bit of reading and relaxing myself! Happy new year everyone!

"Merry Christmas To Me"
My first festive piece of the season! A satirical Christmas wishlist from a self-proclaimed material girl. I never thought I’d have to ‘gift-wrap’ a plane!

New illustration for Financial Post Magazine! A single mother has a healthy savings that provides for her and her family’s lifestyle and activities, but with a large amount invested in the housing market, she is at risk of it all coming crashing down.

I got to create this set of illustrations for a 5-week series of author interviews the Globe & Mail published leading up to the announcement of the Scotiabank Giller Prize winner. Each week would feature a different aspect of the literary world, such as reading, writing, publishing, and the prize itself.

I had a lot of fun with these! Thanks to AD Matt French.
