'Social Media Family'Client: Marketing Magazine
A recent illustration for Marketing Magazine about the shift in movie- and tv-watching now that social media is such a prominent part of our lives. Live-tweeting and discussing shows as we watch them has created a kind of togetherness that family movie nights once did, but with people from all over the world!
Thanks to AD Glenn Taylor!

Steven P. Hughes, Celia Krampien and I were recently commissioned by some of the folks at the Globe & Mail for a special project — A wedding gift for art director Matthew French and his fiance, inspired by their upcoming honeymoon to London, Paris, and Rome. We each took on one city and created a 5”x7”, single colour illustration that would be mounted as a set of 3. I went with Rome, illustrating the incredible sunlit interior of the Pantheon.
Congrats and safe travels, Matt!

'The Real Hero'Client: Today’s Parent
Father’s Day is coming up this weekend! I illustrate a monthly column for Today’s Parent Magazine, and this month’s story was about the author and his dad. He looks back on his childhood and realizes that though his eyes were always on his hockey idols, his dad was the one who was really there for him.
Thanks to ADs Alicia Kowalewski & Erin McPhee!

Illustration by Steven Hughes and Rachel Idzerda

I had the pleasure and rare opportunity of collaborating with another illustrator - the very talented Rachel Idzerda ( rachelidzerda ) - on a cover illustration for the Globe and Mail. While at the outset we both agreed on focusing on separate aspects of the image, it soon became a less simple division of labour as she helped shape my part while I helped shape hers.
This all came about (with many thanks to) Matt French, a Design Editor at the Globe and Mail. Rachel and I have both worked with Matt quite a bit, and he’s displayed a lot of faith in our abilities, without which this collaboration would not have been possible.
If you’re interested in seeing his great designs, awesome covers, plus new editorial illustrations from some great artists, then you should definitely follow him on tumblr: mattcfrench

I recently got to team up with Steven Hughes for this psychedelic Mad Men cover, with page design by Matt French! Follow them both if you’re not already doing so!
