Nuggets!

I originally started making these little guys as part of a college business project, but they got such great feedback and I enjoyed them so much that I continued making/selling them!

I will be creating even more different designs, and hope to have them up on Etsy sometime soon!

Reposting this one because I was a little hasty to post originally and have made some changes since then.
This is the final image, after adjustments, that was presented at my grad show.

spurredbyboredom: Hi, I really love this tumblr and all your artwork. Out of curiosity, how did you develop this style? Did you set out wanting to make stuff looking like this or was it just your natural style?

Thank you!

My style is honestly just a product of drawing in a way that feels natural to me. There’s such a concern among aspiring artists about creating a certain “style” for themselves, but it really has to happen organically. Trying to emulate someone else’s way of drawing will just end up looking and feeling contrived (not to mention piss people off!).

Just draw a LOT and be inspired by everything and everyone around you, and it’ll come naturally!

I just realized that I’ve posted process shots of several recent pieces without actually posting the finals after, so I’ll try to work my way through getting them all up!
This one is based on the short story “Night” by John W. Campbell.
See the process video for it here.

Finally getting a chance to just do some sketching for fun again!
Definitely rusty, but enjoying it.

The April showers are behind us, and you know what that means: It’s time to look at the cultural happenings for May 2012! Click on our guide for daily highlights in movies, TV, music and more. Sure, there are flowers out there, but you don’t have to spend every day looking at them!

I made a process video for the last of my thesis illustrations! Enjoy!

(also ignore the strange pixelated areas and spotty color that seem to have appeared in the uploading process)
